Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). It is one of the most common STD in United States. If you are a sexually active person, you are at a higher risk of getting herpes. Causes of Herpes
Oral herpes is most commonly transmitted by kissing, sharing drinks or utensils, but can also be contracted from a partner who has genital herpes during oral sex. Symptoms of Herpes

- Itching of the lips or skin around the mouth
- Burning near the lips or mouth area

Test for herpes
Herpes test is not different from other laboratories test and requires the same procedure as another test. The blood samples are taken from the mostly the sores on the mouth and stained with the Tznack smear, staining agent. The test does not take much of your time and can be conducted with much ease. If the results are obtained and the results are showing positive sign, the examination is conducted to determine if the infection is cause due to HSV-1 or HSV-2. Herpes type 1 antibodies have a development period of 2 weeks to 6 months after initial infection. If you are facing some symptoms of oral herpes, it is highly recommended to get the tests done. IgG herpes test is considered to be the most accurate among all the herpes tests. The false answers will lead to the false results. There is no cure for herpes but, there are treatment options available. Avoiding kissing or oral sex someone with herpes can help prevent the spread of herpes. The first herpes symptoms after infection may go away on their own after 10-14 days, although the infection itself remains dormant in your body.
